Hannah Jewell joins The 7 team as writer and editor based in Britain

Announcement from The 7 Editor John Taylor and Head of Curation and Platforms Coleen O’Lear:

We’re excited to announce that Hannah Jewell has joined The 7 team as a writer and editor based in Britain.

Hannah will join Jamie Ross in researching and writing the daily briefing and newsletter, getting an early start each morning from across the pond. She’ll also help edit The 7 Podcast and The 7 DMV newsletter.

Hannah joined The Post in 2017 as an on-camera reporter for the Video team. She has covered both the serious and the lighter side of news, from the 2018 and 2020 elections to red carpets to the Area 51 “raid” (where she failed to find any aliens). She also has worked with The Post’s Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok teams to bring accessible news to young audiences. (This included co-starring in Marty Baron’s first TikTok.)

She’s the author of three books: “100 Nasty Women of History” (2017), “She Caused a Riot” (2018) and “We Need Snowflakes” (2022). She previously worked at BuzzFeed UK — where she and Jamie were colleagues — before they shut that party down.

Hannah was born in London, grew up in the Bay Area, and has shuttled back and forth between the U.S. and Britain ever since. She lives in York, home of England’s most haunted pub, with her husband, giant cat and tiny baby.

Hannah started her new role this month. Please join us in congratulating her — and welcoming her back from parental leave.
